Pritchard and Moore Scholarship 2026

Cancer Research Wales is delighted to launch the second iteration of its Pritchard and Moore Scholarship, which honours the legacies of Dr John Pritchard and Professor John Moore.

Status

Open

Both Dr Pritchard and Prof Moore enjoyed distinguished careers at Velindre Cancer Centre and had a keen interest in radiotherapy-related research.

Together they supported the academic career development of numerous staff and helped to establish Velindre as a centre of research excellence. They both previously served on the Board of Trustees at Cancer Research Wales, with Professor Moore going on to become President of the charity.

To honour their legacy, Cancer Research Wales established the Pritchard and Moore Scholarship, which supports a talented researcher to conduct a novel research project in radiotherapy or its related fields.

The Scholarship is open to all of Wales and will fund a PhD studentship or a Post-Doctoral project, either full or part time.

Proposals are invited from the following disciplines:

  • Radiomics and Radiogenomics
  • Medical Imaging
  • Molecular Radiotherapy
  • Pre-clinical studies (e.g. Radiobiology, DNA damage sensitisers)
  • Combination therapies involving radiotherapy
  • Treatment Planning and Quality Assurance

If you are unsure if your proposal fits the scope of the Scholarship, please contact the Head of Research, Dr Lee Campbell, at lee.campbell@cancerresearchwales.org.uk.
