Supporter promise

When you choose to support Cancer Research Wales, you’re choosing to help make sure the people of Wales don’t have to accept cancer as a life-threatening disease – thank you so much.

As an independent Welsh charity, we receive no government funding and rely on the generosity of supporters to fund world-class research here in Wales. However you decide to support us, we really value your commitment. In return we want to make our own commitment to you.

We promise:

To be clear, honest and open

  • We will always be guided by our vision of a Wales united against cancer through world-class research, and our mission to make sure the people of Wales do not have to accept cancer as a life-threatening disease
  • We will be clear about who we are and what we do. We’re proud to be a charity raising and spending money in Wales to help people affected by cancer and their loved ones
  • We will tell you about the difference your support has made and could make, and be honest about the challenges we face

To be respectful

  • We will respect your rights and privacy. Your details are safe with us and we’ll never sell them to any third party. Read our full privacy policy.
  • We will use your details in the way you’ve agreed to and make it easy for you to change the way we keep in touch with you. You are in control and can choose how we contact you or to stop communications completely. Please just give us a call on 029 2185 5050 or get in touch by emailing
  • We will give you the chance to support in a way that works for you, and to be respectful and sensitive to your circumstances
  • We won’t put pressure on you to give more or more frequently. If you choose not to give or want to stop supporting us, we will respect your decision

To be accountable and responsible

  • We will use donations wisely and with care so that they will have the greatest impact on people affected by cancer in Wales
  • We will be transparent about our fundraising costs – we’ll make our annual reports easy to access
  • We will listen and learn, and answer any questions quickly and honestly. Please let us know if we get something wrong. You are important to us and we always value hearing from our supporters – we promise you’ll receive a friendly and open response if you get in touch. Read our Concerns and Complaints Policy.
  • We are committed to high standards and comply with all fundraising and data protection legislation and guidelines across all our fundraising activities. We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator and will display their logo on our materials to show our commitment to best practice
