Book Volunteer - Rhiwbina

Support Cancer Research Wales by sorting, pricing, and displaying donated books in our retail shop. This role helps maintain a welcoming and well-organised book section that maximises sales and supports our vital research work.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Sort and assess donated books for quality, condition, and suitability for sale
  • Research and price books appropriately, including identifying rare or valuable items
  • Organise and replenish book displays to keep the section tidy, attractive, and easy to browse
  • Rotate stock regularly and follow shop guidelines for unsold or damaged items
  • Engage with customers in a friendly and helpful manner, offering assistance when needed
  • Work as part of a team to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming shop environment
  • Follow all Cancer Research Wales policies, including those related to health and safety, safeguarding, and data protection

Skills and Qualities Needed:

  • A passion for books and reading
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to identify quality or valuable items
  • Friendly, reliable, and a good team player
  • Willingness to learn and follow guidance
  • Basic computer or internet skills (helpful but not essential)
