Bank Holiday brings special guest to Chepstow’s Cancer Research Wales shop
Robin Osterley - the Chief Executive Officer of the Charity Retail Association which represents charity shops across the UK, visited the Cancer Research Wales shop in Chepstow to join its birthday celebrations

Robin Osterley met with Cancer Research Wales staff and volunteers who have established the shop as a popular destination on the town’s high street and learnt about the success of the charity’s retail operation across Wales.
Commenting on his visit, Robin Osterley said:
“It was a privilege to be present at the Chepstow shop’s first birthday! And lovely to be invited and meet the staff and volunteers, who are so obviously committed to working hard for such a great cause. Charity retailing is about community involvement and engagement, and it was clear from the visit that Cancer Research Wales have nailed that beautifully. Many happy returns! “
The shop opened its doors for business on 21 High Street on Saturday 25 May 2024 and the-then Mayor of Chepstow - Councillor Tudor Griffiths, performed the cutting of the ribbon.
The first anniversary weekend celebrations saw special offers in place at the shop which sells a range of pre-loved goods including women, men’s and children’s clothes and homeware.
Also appearing over the weekend was Cancer Research Wales’s new mascot – Stripe the Dragon, who greeted customers and members of the public.
Cancer Research Wales’s Chief Executive Officer - Adam Fletcher, said:
“I’m very grateful to Robin for coming to pay a visit to our shop in Chepstow and celebrate its success and that of our other 14 shops across Wales.
“I’m also indebted to the people of Chepstow and the surrounding area - including our fantastic volunteers and staff, who have supported our shop by shopping here and donating pre-loved goods over the last 12 months and helped it become established.
“I’m looking forward to the next 12 months and to seeing the Cancer Research Wales shop in Chepstow keep going from strength to strength and supporting our mission of uniting Wales against cancer”
