Growth of fundraising events

Nic Clarke came in as runner-up in the Fundraiser of the Year 2025 category of the Benefact Group Charity Heroes Awards at a prestigious ceremony in London on Thursday 20 November.

He serves as Fundraising Events Manager for Cancer Research Wales, where he’s worked since 2022.

While working for Cancer Research Wales Nic has also overseen the growth of the charity’s fundraising events such as its Stripe a Pose campaign and Cherish concert.

What a fantastic experience

Commenting on his nomination, Nic said:

“I am very honoured to have been nominated Fundraiser of the Year 2025 and to represent the charity at the Benefact Group Charity Heroes Awards at the Tower of London yesterday.

“To be in a room with 21 other incredible people from the charity sector across the UK, then finding out there was more than 2,000 nominations is mind-blowing.

“It’s not every day you have lunch in the ’actual’ Tower of London, but what a fantastic experience and again I am very honoured to have been nominated for this award.”

The Benefact Group Charity Heroes Awards’ Fundraiser of the Year is awarded to individuals who have delivered great financial results shown collaboration, strategic thinking and creativity in their approach.

Very proud of Nic

Nic was nominated for the Fundraiser of the Year 2025 award by his manager, Lisa Buckley – Cancer Research Wales’s Head of Income Generation.

“We’re all very proud of Nic and if there ever was a charity hero worthy of recognition for his hard work, drive and dedication, then Nic is certainly that person.

“It’s a privilege to work with him and I consider myself very lucky to have him as part of our fundraising team at Cancer Research Wales.”
