Open Call 2026

Cancer Research Wales is delighted to invite applications for new research projects.

Start date

1 May 2026

Status

Open

Cancer Research Wales has a proud history of supporting the next generation of cancer researchers through the funding of PhD studentships, as well as enabling researchers to build their careers through project grant funding.

We are therefore pleased to be inviting proposals for new projects, encompassing PhD studentships, project grants and Innovation grants. These can take place in any cancer-related field and are not limited to any specific cancer type.

The proposal should align with our Research Strategy which comprises four broad themes:

  • Discovery and Translational Research
  • Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis
  • Better Treatments
  • Health Systems and Outcomes Research

If you are unsure if your proposal is suitable, please contact our Head of Research, Dr Lee Campbell, by e-mail: lee.campbell@cancerresearchwales.org.uk

For more information about Cancer Research Wales grant calls, including our Research Code of Conduct, please see our Information for Applicants page.

We are the Welsh cancer research charity. Help us fund world class research in Wales.

Every week in Wales, 175 families lose a loved one to cancer. We are working to make sure that the people of Wales don't have to accept cancer as a life-threatening disease. But we need your support. Donate today and help bring better treatments closer to home for patients across Wales.
