Show your Stripes!

Event type

Fundraising Opportunities

Date

24 September 2026

This September, we're inviting schools, businesses, community groups and individuals across Wales to come together and Show your Stripes in support of Cancer Research Wales!

As we celebrate World Cancer Research Day on 24 September, we're asking everyone to put on their favourite stripey clothes or accessories, raise awareness and hold a fundraiser to help support vital cancer research here in Wales.

Taking part is simple! All you need to do is wear stripes, get involved and raise funds in a way that works for you. Whether it's a non-uniform day at school, a bake sale in the office, a community coffee morning or a sponsored challenge with your club, every fundraiser helps make a difference.

Why stripes?

Did you know our logo is inspired by the DNA sequencing gels researchers use to identify genetic changes linked to cancer?

The colours within our brand were influenced by the dyes used in DNA gels in laboratories, helping researchers interpret important results more clearly. That's why Show your Stripes is such a perfect way to show your support, stripes are part of the science, the research and the identity behind Cancer Research Wales.

How to take part

Getting involved couldn't be easier:

  • Wear your favourite stripes during September
  • Hold a fundraiser at your school, workplace, club or community group
  • Donate what you raise to Cancer Research Wales
  • Share your photos and fundraising activities to help spread awareness

You can make your fundraiser as big or as simple as you like. Some ideas include:

  • Non-uniform days
  • Bake sales
  • Coffee mornings
  • Quiz nights
  • Sponsored walks or challenges
  • Sweepstakes or raffles
  • Dress-down days at work

However you choose to take part, you'll be helping fund world-class cancer research that benefits people across Wales.
