Professor Mererid Evans

Professor Mererid Evans is the Director of the Wales Cancer Research Centre and is a practising clinical oncologist specialising in head and neck cancer.
Since completing a PhD in 2001 investigating HPV in cervical cancer, Professor Evans has maintained a strong research interest alongside her clinical work, focusing on improving radiotherapy treatments to enhance patient experiences. Professor Evans is currently leading several radiotherapy clinical trials and her expertise has been recognised in her appointment as Deputy Chair of the National Cancer Research Institute’s Radiotherapy Research Group, making her a leading authority in this field.
