Philippa Tuttiett cuts the ribbon on Trago Mills pop-up shop

Welsh rugby star Philippa opens new Cancer Research Wales shop

Welsh women’s rugby legend Philippa Tuttiett made a special appearance at Trago Mills Merthyr Tydfil to open a new shop on Saturday afternoon.

The former Welsh women’s captain and sports commentator cut the ribbon at Cancer Research Wales’ pop-up store at the popular shopping centre.

Philippa received a warm welcome from shoppers, Cancer Research Wales staff and the charity’s mascot – Stripe the Dragon.

“It’s my pleasure - as a Cancer Research Wales ambassador, to open the charity’s new pop-up shop in Trago Mills Merthyr Tydfil”, said Philippa.

“Cancer Research Wales is the Welsh cancer research charity, and it funds world-class cancer research here in Wales to find quicker ways to diagnose cancer and kinder and more effective treatments for the disease.

“So, please come and support Cancer Research Wales’s important work by shopping here at Trago Mills and donating your quality pre-loved goods so that you too can play your part in helping to unite Wales against cancer.”

The new shop sells a range of items including Christmas cards; women’s, children’s and men’s clothing, homeware and bric-a-brac.

Cancer Research Wales is accepting quality, pre-loved goods at the store and is also looking for volunteers to come and help run it.

Adam Fletcher, Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Research Wales said:

“I’m very grateful to our incredible ambassador – Philippa Tuttiett for coming along to open our latest shop in Trago Mills and bringing so much fun and joy to the event.

“The shop will be open every day in the run-up to Christmas and it’s got some great seasonal bargains from stocking fillers to Christmas cards, so make sure you call in and have a browse the next time you’re in Trago Mills.”

The Cancer Research Wales shop at Trago Mills is open seven days a week from 10.00am.
