Mae Pwyllgor Gwyddonol Ymchwil Canser Cymru yn gwneud argymhellion i’r Bwrdd Ymddiriedolwyr ar benderfyniadau cyllid ac yn cynghori ar Strategaeth Ymchwil yr elusen.

Dyma aelodau ein Pwyllgor Gwyddonol:

Prof Chris Fegan - Chair

Professor Fegan is a retired clinical haematologist and Emeritus Professor at Cardiff University. Professor Fegan is also a former Director of Research and Development at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at Telonostix.

Prof Huw Griffiths

Professor Griffiths is Emeritus Professor at Swansea University, with expertise in medical physics and medical imaging for a number of types of cancer. Professor Griffiths has previously served on awarding panels on behalf of a number of major funding organisations, including the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

Dr Mark Davies

Dr Davies is an Honorary Consultant in Clinical Genetics and Medical Oncology at the All Wales Medical Genomics Service and Velindre Cancer Centre. Specialising in breast cancer, Dr Davies' research focuses on personalising cancer care through the use of genetics.

Dr Nick Wreglesworth

Dr Nick Wreglesworth is a Consultant Medical Oncologist, specialising in thoracic cancers, based at Ysbyty Gwyneth in North Wales. Dr Wreglesworth previously completed a PhD, funded by Cancer Research Wales, exploring the use of cancer testis antigens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. He has since maintained his diverse research interests, which also include remote patient monitoring and the impact of circadian rhythms on cancer treatment.

Prof Gareth Jenkins

Professor Gareth Jenkins is a leading authority on carcinogens and cancer mutations and was previously the Director of Research at Swansea University Medical School. Professor Jenkins has built a research group focusing on how carcinogens cause cancer and using that information to diagnose cancers at early stages. With an extensive catalogue of over 100 publications and strong collaborative links with academia and industry across the world, Professor Jenkins is a leader in Welsh research.

Prof Ruth Plummer

Professor Ruth Plummer is an honorary consultant medical oncologist in Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Professor of Experimental Cancer Medicine at Newcastle University. Her research interests lie in DNA repair and the development of novel cancer therapies. Prof Plummer is the director of the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre and has extensive experience on clinical trial and scientific committees.
